PHOTOVOLTAICS

| Main | Solar Cells | Solar Modules |

Photovoltaics is the name for direct conversion of light into electricity in solar cells.

A solar cell producing 1 Wp means e.g. 1 V and 1 A at Standard Test Conditions ( STC ). STC is defined as an insolation of 1000 W/m2 at the right angle to the solar cell, 25º C cell temperature and an AM 1.5 sunlight spectrum ( like in middle-Europe ).

Did you know?

Albert Einstein already discovered the photovoltaic effect in the year 1905, for which he was rewarded the Nobel-Prize in Physics in 1921.
